Hannibal Rising Fiction

Popeil and Hannibal just didnt have enough banter in the movie. It was just too fun. So I'm making sure that my FF has more interaction between the two.

“You know if I thought this would end with Grutas and his men. ..  If I thought you would stop… I would be sorely tempted to look the other way,” Popeil drew his hands over his eyes, rubbing lightly.

“That doesn’t sound very law-biding Inspector.”

“Oh it isn’t. But I can’t think of a group of men more deserving. They are despicable. I don’t really give a damn if they live or die. But the problem is that I don’t believe you will stop. I don’t believe you can stop now.”

Hannibal eyes questioned.

“No one can do what was done to those men and just stop. It’s gone beyond the need for vengeance. It’s even beyond obsession now. It’s madness.”

Hannibal looked terribly amused. “Is that your medical opinion Inspector?”

“Mock me if you like. Maybe you can’t even see the truth of it. I don’t know. But I do know that you will keep killing until someone stops you.”

“I think if anyone is obsessed, it’s you. You seem to have a very unhealthy interest in me.”

“Unhealthy? Are you threatening me?”

Hannibal smiled, “Obsessive and paranoid. Tell me, does your family have a history of mental instability Inspector Popeil?”

Popeil shook his head, “I knew trying to talk to you was a waste of time.”

“Oh, I am sorry Inspector. Am I being uncooperative? Why don’t you tell me what it is you are trying to accomplish here. Maybe then I can help you,” Hannibal solicited.

“The only thing I’m  trying to accomplish is to keep you from dissecting some poor innocent who gets in your way.”

“No one is truly innocent. You should know that,” Hannibal’s low, smooth voice took on a sharp tone.

“Sooner or later you will make a mistake. And I will be waiting.”

“We all make mistakes Inspector. He paused. Who knows perhaps it will be me that is waiting… for you.”

Now that was a clear threat.

Sounds vaguely ominous to me... You have the characters spot on my dear. And god lord am I glad that someone else on the planet is writing these two.
